So far so good. It is looking decent for our outright picks at the moment for this week. In Dubai, we had a huge upset were Roger Federer choked big time to lose to Evgeny Donskoy of all people. This is great news for our bet on Andy Murray who won his second round match easy against Guillermo Garcia Lopez 6-2 6-0. The odds on Murray to win the tournament is now down to 1.50, so there is already a possibility to hedge the bet on exchanges with profit.
Novak Djokovic faced a great challenge as expected in the second round against Juan Martin del Potro. He lost the first set 4-6, but managed to fight back and win the next two 6-4 6-4. All the favorites are through to the quarterfinals in Acapulco, and the Serb will have another big game coming up against the loose cannon Nick Kyrgios. The odds on Djokovic to win Acapulco have now dropped down to 1.90 now.
In the WTA tournament, Kirsten Flipkens won after only 1 set against Alja Tomljanovic who were forced to retire from the match. Flipkens will now face the second seeded Kristina Mladenovic in the quarterfinal. This will be a tough test, but I will certainly not be surprised if she wins this match. The odds on Flipkens to win the tournament have dropped from 34.00 when we played, to 15.00 now.
We got a bit unlucky with our pick in Kuala Lumpur, as Shuai Peng had to retire when 2-5 down in the first set against Magda Linette due to an injury. Seeing as Peng was a 1.22 favorite in this match and was down to 4.00 to win the tournament, this was rather unfortunate.
Let’s hope the rest of the picks delivers in the upcoming QFs.
